Ednorth Advocates

We are building a network of ‘Ednorth Advocates’ across the North East to help drive this agenda forward. Practitioners at all levels of teaching - from NQT to SLT - and from all areas of the region, can volunteer to become an Ednorth Advocate and be responsible for implementing change within their schools and local area. They will lead school-led projects, plan and facilitate events and be a catalyst for activities in their local area. They will also initiate a dialogue between schools across the region, fostering a greater culture of collaboration in the North East.

The activities and advice of Ednorth Advocates will also help to inform and direct Schools North East's influencing of Government, Ofsted and anyone involved in educational policy making.

Why are you interested in the Ednorth program?

Research is a big interest of mine and one that underpins my T&L practice. The chance to champion research, to support the development of a collaborative community and to champion evidence led educational practices is very exciting.

Why are you interested in the Ednorth program?

The North East is being left behind by policy makers. Our children live in increasing amounts of poverty and our schools are left to pick up the pieces. The EdNorth Program is a network of voices who are finally, collectively saying "enough is enough". Our students deserve excellence and this network will be able to deliver this for them.

Why are you interested in the Ednorth program?
I believe EdNorth is fundamental to the long term improvement of North East Schools, returning to the North East having spent 13 years in exile in the Midlands it is clear that the North is experiencing issues that no other area is facing such as the geographic stretch of resources. Being part of EdNorth allows me to contribute to the change we all want to see.

Why are you interested in the Ednorth program?
Since 2015, I have been involved in action research and have carried out enquiries into my own teaching practice and leadership issues at school and local levels. I strongly believe in research-informed decision making and the professional development opportunities that practitioner enquiry can provide.

Why are you interested in the Ednorth program?

Teachers are so often pulled in several directions by external pressures such as exam syllabuses, political decisions, Ofsted and the like, that they feel 'done to' with very little control. Ednorth is about teachers taking the control back and being the ones who decide what they will do, through strength in collaborative working backed up by proven, evidenced practice. Ednorth puts the focus back in the classroom
